The late James Gandolfini wasn’t the only tough New Jersey actor vying for the role of Tony Soprano on HBO’s The Sopranos. Liotta didn’t want to work on television at the time and Gandolfini signed on. Liotta is currently starring as another Italian wise guy on NBC’s Shades of Blue opposite Jennifer Lopez. While Gandolfini was mostly known for playing tough characters, he sometimes showed off his vulnerable sides on films such as Where the Wild Things Are and Enough Said.
