There were several A-list actors vying for the role of Walter White on the breakout thriller series Breaking Bad, including actor John Cusack. Another big ‘80s star, Matthew Broderick, was also at the top of the list for role. Creator Vince Gilligan ended up offering the role to Bryan Cranston who was previously most known for his role as the hilarious dad on the family sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. In 2016 he received his first Academy Award nomination for his performance in Trumbo.
