Before Ty Burrell signed on to play Phil Dunphy in the hit family sitcom Modern Family, the show’s producers had another funnyman in mind for the part: Friend’s star Matt LeBlanc. “I remember reading it thinking, this is a really good script, (but) I’m not the guy for this,” LeBlanc told USA Today. The part went to Ty Burrell, who won two Emmys for playing Phil. In 2017, Ty told People Magazine that he is considering quitting acting after the series ends and is more interested in producing.
