[post_page_title]Paul Shaffer/Jason Alexander[/post_page_title]
Seinfeld co-creator and actor Jerry Seinfeld originally suggested Late Night With David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer to play Seinfeld’s quirky sidekick George Costanza. However, Shaffer was too busy to check his answering machine for the news, and the part was quickly offered to Jason Alexander. After the series ended, he turned to directing and has helmed episodes for numerous TV series, including Mike & Molly, Franklin & Bash, and Criminal Minds. He was nominated for seven Emmys for playing George. Reading all this, we’re guessing Paul is getting angry!
