There are approximately 22 million veterans of the United States Armed Forces alive today. Out of a total population of about 320 million people, this means that just under seven percent of the entire population of the United States is a veteran. Of that only a mere ten percent, or 2.2 million veterans, are women. However, with women being added to more and more roles in the military, the number of women veterans is likely to increase.
