Unfortunately, although hopes were high for Miley and Liam, they were soon proved misplaced. In August of 2019 it was announced that Cyrus and Hemsworth had decided to separate, just over half a year since they had been married.
Although some hoped they might stay together and reconcile, such hopes were dashed when Hemsworth filed for divorce less than two weeks later. It appeared that, despite their best efforts, Miley and Liam had been unable to sustain their relationship, and had broken up for good this time.
