Cyrus experienced the classic difficulties of someone trying to get into music on the ground level, even having to live in his friend’s car at one point. However, eventually he signed with Polygram in 1990, and nobody could have predicted how big his debut album would be.
‘Some Gave All’ was a smash hit, helped to success by the release of the single ‘Achy Breaky Heart’, which would top charts around the world. ‘Some Gave All’ would make Cyrus an instantly known name, and went on to become the highest selling debut album by a male artist in history.
