Tessa Thompson does not only relate to her Thor: Ragnarok character on a romantic level, but she also put her heart and soul into the role. When she asked to take on the role of Valkyrie, the director wanted her to speak in her normal American accent. However, Tessa was not convinced. After reading the comics and reading the script, she knew that a warrior from Asgard would not have an American accent. In her eyes, Valkyrie was British. So, she put up a fight and eventually convinced the director to let her be British.
