Although we’ve seen Valkyrie on our screens and know a little about her life, have you ever wondered where her story comes from? Well, it turns out that Valkyrie’s roots can be traced back to 13th Century Iceland. It’s been widely reported that Valkyrie’s story was first written down in The Völsunga Saga, which followed the life of a Merovingian queen called Brunhild. The Marvel character we know and love today is a little different to the queen, but the main themes are all there. It’s history, y’all.
