Unlike her California girl of a daughter, Debbie was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. Her full real name was Mary Frances Reynolds, Debbie was a nickname. Debbie grew up in a shack, literally. The Reynolds home was on Magnolia Street in El Paso. About her childhood, Debbie said, “We may have been poor, but we always had something to eat, even if Dad had to go out on the desert and shoot jackrabbits.”
