If Saroo’s heartbreaking story sounds familiar, that’s because in 2016 Hollywood released a film about his story, called Lion. The film, starring Nicole Kidman, Dev Patel (as Saroo), and Rooney Mara, highlights Saroo’s incredible story from the past to the present. Today Saroo lives with adoptive parents in Tasmania. They were incredibly supportive of his decision to search out his biological family. “If he wanted to explore that [part of his history],” says Sue Brierley (pictured left), Saroo’s mother, “we wanted him to be fully happy about his identity.”
