The couple, called Ramzan and Nazma Shah, believed the young girl was their daughter, Alizah. A few months earlier they had been walking through their local market with their daughter when they discovered that she was no longer by their side. Although they tried to locate where she had gone, they couldn’t find her. In an attempt to locate their daughter they later went to the police station, where they were told that they would have to pay to receive support. The couple did not have the kind of money they were asking for.
