In April 2017, the police finally had a lead that could point them in the direction of the young girl’s family. After seeing the pictures on the television, a couple from Jaunpur – around 260 km away from where the girl was found – reached out to the police. They believed that the unidentified girl looked incredibly similar to their daughter, who had gone missing. So they made their way to the home where the girl was staying, to see whether she could be their daughter. The police had high hopes.
