If you’ve ever tried to find out where someone is in real life, you’ll know that it’s pretty darn hard. If you know that they are staying in a certain hotel, you can’t just phone up and confirm this with the receptionist. Instead, they have to abide by their privacy rules – because that’s kinda how the world works.
If they were to disclose this kind of information, they will probably get fired. However, this doesn’t seem to be a problem in Hollywood, because these receptionists are always willing to risk their jobs for strangers.
