Just as much as Cher, Sonny was heartbroken over the divorce, knowing that he had played a large part in their marriage’s failure. However, he was also extremely worried about their careers, now that they would be ending the arrangement that had proved so successful for them both.
Sonny was worried that, apart, they would not be able to recreate the magic they had together. However, it’s also possible that he was simply concerned about his ability to carry a show without the talent, and more importantly the personality, that Cher possessed.
