As it turned out, most of the people with cabins in the Maine woods around Moosehead Lake only used their cabins on the weekends. Therefore, Christopher Knight would only go and snag supplies during the week, giving him enough time to calmly get what he needed and cover up his tracks.
He would also look for spare keys to hold onto so that the cabin would be easier to get into the next time.
