It’s a widely known fact that Monroe’s mother was mentally ill and institutionalized. There was suspicion back then and today that Marilyn may have also had mental illness. While it’s known that she had insomnia, depression, and anxiety, there are other illnesses that she may have had.
Two that have come up are bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia (like her mother). While two psychiatrists diagnosed her with the latter a year before her death, bipolar was just a theory created by people postmortem.
