[post_page_title]Cloris Leachman – Then[/post_page_title]
Cloris Leachman came into The Facts of Life in 1986, in season 7. Cloris’ character, Beverly Ann, replaced the legendary Mrs. Garrett, who’s character would go off to Africa (Charlotte Rae wanted off the show at this point).

Beverly would be the essential new caretaker of the girls on the show, but would also be a businesswoman as she owned a shop. Due to the complexity of the show and it’s characters, Charlotte Rae herself chose Cloris to be her replacement and told producers that she was the perfect fit to replace her.
