Mindy played the role of Natalie Green on the show. Mindy was actually discovered by Charlotte Rae when the production visited the all-female prep school she was attending at the time for the shows research. Charlotte was so taken with Mindy’s personality that she convinced the show to create the role of Natalie for her.
Mindy was 13 years old when she began playing the role of Natalie. Natalie’s character was rambunctious and happy. The fact that she was a full figured young woman didn’t seem to phase her and if anything only made her more confident in herself, a very powerful message to young women watching the show.
