Geri got on The Facts of Life because of her passion for life. Producer Norman Lear asked Geri to be on the show after he saw her perform at the Media Access Awards and was very impressed with her acting.
Geri played the role of Geri Tyler on the show, from the second season in 1980 through 1984. Geri was the first individual with a visible disability to have a major role in a television show, and the very first one with cerebral palsy.
