There were two directors of Captain Kangaroo during its time on the air. For the first 25 years of the show, director Peter Birch was in charge of the show’s direction. Sadly though, Peter Birch, passed away in 1980 from a massive heart attack. After Peter’s death, a new director was appointed to take over – Jim Hirschfield, who directed until the end of the show.
