Free-spirited Nana Mary would tell tales of her hard-partying ways and wandering youth. She had short-lived relationships with a number of men and has said that she isn’t certain who daughter Beverly’s real father is. This causes tension between mother and daughter but they do their best to show compassion for one another. Nana Mary says she wanted to be the opposite of her strict and by-the-book mother. She always felt the urge to rebel and explore all that life has to offer on her own terms.
