Leon Carp starts off as the Manager of Rodbell’s Luncheonette where Roseanne worked. He causes Roseanne a lot of grief primarily due to the fact that he is very by the book when it comes to rules and schedules. However, over time, the two develop a friendship and even come to respect each other, with Carp coming to play poker with Dan. After coming out on the show, Leon became one of the first LGBT characters on network TV, and certainly one of the first be positively portrayed.
