As we said, most of the film was shot in Virginia and North Carolina. Pembroke, Virginia was the location of Mountain Lake Lodge. Fans of the film found out where the lodge was and decided to go there for their very own Dirty Dancing experience.
The lodge decided to capitalize on the success of the film and provide three Dirty Dancing weekends a year, where everything on the premises was related to the film – watermelon and dancing included!
