Mia underwent surgery in order to correct her cleft lip in 2014. Jase and his wife Missy were understandably concerned while their daughter went through surgery but they were overwhelmed by the amount of support they received from fans through the difficult time. They created a charity in order to aid other children who were born with the condition and decided to name it after Mia.
