After finishing high school, Norris decided to join the military and enlisted in 1958. He served as an Air Policeman in the United States Air Force, and was stationed in an American base in South Korea. There, he began his training in martial arts, specifically Tang Soo Do. Chuck eventually earned a black belt. Upon finishing his military service, he continued to serve as an Air Policeman in an Air Force base in California.
