Gordon made a promise not only to his wife but to his children as well. Gordon spoke about how he never intended on anything happening to him as he needed to make sure he was always around to ensure he was able to look after his wife. He knew that if he was to go that Norma wouldn’t be able to cope; Norma reciprocated his feelings as she, too, did everything to stay active throughout their life together.
