Susan got her career started with her first motion picture role in the film Joe in 1970. She continued her acting gigs, with a role on the television soap A World Apart. In 1975 Susan played the starring role in the musical film The Rocky Horror Picture Show as the role of Janet. The film was not loved at first, but has become a cult classic.

Susan has built herself a mega-successful acting career since the 70s. She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in films like Atlantic City, Thelma & Louise, Lorenzo’s Oil, and The Client. She finally won her first Academy Award in 1995 for Dead Man Walking. Since her film successes she has also been on several television shows, such as Malcolm in the Middle, and Friends.
