The pretty scenery and lavish mansions that sit on the waterfront coast of Charleston, South Carolina will be gone in almost 100 years. A direct impact of climate change and failure to do anything about it will lead to a 13-foot increase in water level flooding the town and its rich history. Local officials would like to consider a walled-city approach as a solution to the problem, but the expenditure could cost them billions of dollars that they don’t necessarily have. Hopefully, they still have 80 years to raise the funds.
