The New York city Harbor, a symbol of hope and independence, is at high risk for sea submergence. With the water levels around the harbor expected to rise by at least 3 levels, the city is at danger of accumulating $1.51 billion in property damage. The increased water level will have a severe effect on the engineering work produced surrounding the harbor and consequently, with offset a domino effect of problematic events that threaten the quality of living near the city’s edge. Pretty soon, it may become impossible to see the Statue of Liberty up close and personal.
