To make things even more awkward, propermistakeregretit had actually been planning to break up with his girlfriend before he’d proposed. Given he was ready to pop the question to the other woman, he couldn’t stay in his current relationship. Although the guy didn’t state when he was planning on ending things with her, it likely would have been sooner rather than later.
Had they been by themselves on New Year’s Eve, he may have even done it there and then. Instead, he went in the complete opposite direction and ensured that his girlfriend wasn’t going anywhere. It put him in a tricky situation, and he wondered if it was just best to leave things as they were and see what happened. Maybe proposing to the wrong person was fate’s way of telling him that he was supposed to be with his girlfriend.
