Even on his deathbed, the silent film and comic star was being his usual funny self. When a priest administered his last rights and told the actor ‘May the Lord have mercy on your soul’ Chaplin replied with ‘Why not? After all, it belongs to him.” The comedy actor died at his home after he had a stroke when he was 88. His funeral was a small one according to what he requested. Fellow actor Bob Hope stated that “We were lucky to have lived in his time.”
