Jewel Staite began her way as a child actress at the age of only 11, when she appeared in the CBC family drama Liar Liar (not to be confused with the movie starring Jim Carrey). She rose to prominence when playing the role of mechanic Kaylee Frye in the cult sci-fi series Firefly, and reprised her role for the Firefly movie, Serenity. She also had a recurring role in crime drama The Killing, and guest appearances in DC show Legends of Tomorrow, and Castle (starring her Firefly co-star, Nathan Fillion).
