Anna-Louise Plowman was born in New Zealand and moved to London when she was young to pursue a career in acting, finding work almost immediately. In 2003, she had a major role in the British miniseries Cambridge Spies, playing the mistress of a top spy, where she met her future husband, co-star Toby Stephens. The two married after the series premiered and are raising their three children in London. The actress recently appeared in the adventure show Black Sails, which stars her husband.
