Joss Whedon is a creator who knows how to give the sci-fi audience exactly what it wants, but they always seem to be left disappointed when his shows get the boot. The series, starring Eliza Dushku (who was already popular thanks to her time on Buffy and the comedy Bring It On), revolves around numerous Dollhouses.

These are places that rent “Actives”, or programmed individuals, to wealthy people for various purposes. And according to Whedon, the show met its end because its executive producers “wanted to back away from the concept five minutes after they bought it.”
