In 2012, Peyton Manning was released from the Indianapolis Colts in an emotional press conference. He was released for a number of reasons, primary of which was that it was simply too expensive for the team to keep him on as a player. Additionally, after four neck surgeries, the Colts management did not want to have a player who was stuck to the bench. So, Peyton was put up as a free agent, and he was picked up by the Denver Broncos.
