While caring for her young might be Eloise’s responsibility, that doesn’t mean she was in it alone.
Many of the female members in a herd will help out when there are new additions to the fold, and the older elephant definitely needed assistance. Not only did she have two calves to look after, but she was past her prime too. The pregnancy had taken a lot out of her, and she needed time before she got all her strength back. Any help that was offered to her she was happy to accept.
