Jay Leno got his start in standup and eventually gained so much notoriety that he began to substitute for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show. He ultimately replaced Caron in 1992 and was the host of The Tonight Show until 2009.
Much of Leno’s $400 million net worth comes from The Tonight Show as he was earning around $30 million a year as the host. Leno is enjoying his retirement and makes the odd cameo appearance, such as in the movie Ted and The Muppets.
