Mrs. Duncan summoned Clare off the dance floor and sternly addressed Clare to a serious problem. Mrs. Duncan stated that some of the dads who were watching the girls dance complained to Mrs. Duncan that Clare’s dancing was much too inappropriate and would lead to the male attendees to think impure thoughts.
Clare was outraged! She later wrote that she thought the ‘gross’ dads should be sent home for thinking impure thoughts about a teenage girl and definitely not the other way around.
