“I think it’s something that dawns on you,” Prince Charles has said about the subject, “with the most ghastly inexorable sense.”
During an interview in 1969, in the occasion of his 21st birthday, he was asked about how it was for him, as a boy, to realize that one day he would become the king. He described how the idea that “you have a certain duty and responsibility” was something he realized slowly during his youth.
