Hofmeester explained why he thinks the project has had such an impact, “It is because it’s very moving. People are touched by it because it conveys a feeling of the soul. They’ve written to me about their own children.
The film makes you realize what life is about, in a direct way.” Hofmeester explained that although there have been many time-lapse films portraying something similar with photographs, his project “conveys much more of an idea of the individual, of their personality.”

And he is right, there certainly have been several time-lapse videos on the internet in the last few years. He admits that he was not the first, but he was indeed one of the first to film in the way he did, with video footage of his children talking.
The videos that went viral are actually the much shorter version of a longer film that runs 30 minutes in which you can hear the kids actually talking. Hofmeester describes that film as being “much more personal.”
