Princess Anne is the Queen’s only daughter, but it seems as though she is more closely related to Princess Margaret than Queen Elizabeth. That’s because Princess Anne entered into an extramarital affair with Timothy Lawrence while she was still married to Mark Phillips.
At the time, Timothy worked for the Queen herself – and was a very similar situation to Princess Margaret’s affair with Captain Peter Townsend. When news of their affair reached the media, the Queen was annoyed at her daughter and the media, and tried to do some damage control.
