Faithful viewers of The Crown probably had a hunch this was coming. Despite the Netflix show being a fictionalized depiction of Elizabeth’s life, it is based on truth. On the show, as in real life, the Queen’s younger sister Princess Margaret may have been somewhat jealous of her older sister’s power and status.
Elizabeth, in turn, thought Margaret was spoiled by their father. There has always been tension between the two sisters, and Margaret did indeed skip the Queen’s 10th wedding anniversary party. The Queen, in turn, barred Margaret from marrying her true love.
