Sylvia Lovegren, affectionally known as Sly, worked as J.R’s secretary in Ewing Oil. She normally helped J.R. with all of his schemes and tries to get dirt on his enemies for him. In one incident, Cliff tried to use Sly to get information on J.R. for his investigation on J.R., but sly tricked Cliff by giving him the wrong information. During the last season, J.R. fires Sly when she gets involved with J.R.’s illegitimate son James but ultimately hires her back due to her loyalty to him.
