Jim Davis was born in Missouri in 1909 as Marlin Davis. He served in the Coast Guard in Word War II, before beginning his acting career and subsequently changing his name. Over the span of his career, he starred in many films, namely Winter Meeting, but he is still most famous for his role as Jock Ewing in Dallas. After finding out he had cancer, Jim had to stop acting on Dallas as his illness worsened. He passed away in 1981, at the age of 71 years old.
