Since Marie came from poverty, living in a trailer and working multiple jobs, it’s no wonder she was shocked when first receiving the money. She probably had zero experience with such a large sum, as the majority of paid workers do.
As we’ve mentioned, Marie didn’t want the money to change her. Her family also agreed she was a grounded, level-headed person to begin with. But when you come across such large sums of money, it’s hard to stay with your feet on the ground.
