[post_page_title]Michael Newman[/post_page_title]
Newman was the only real lifeguard to ever appear on the show. He was first hired as a consultant, but started making sporadic appearances since the beginning in 1989, until becoming a series regular in 1996, playing a character that shared his full name, Mike “Newmie” Newman.

Although his acting career ended after Baywatch, Newman’s real-life experience was a major contribution to the show, since he was able to use it to authenticate some scenes. Today, at 62, Newman sells real estate and leads a peaceful life with his family.
