The Cats movie cost $100 million dollars to make. The studio also reportedly spent about $95 million to advertise and distribute the film. Cats only made about $69 million in the box office. All that means that the movie stands to lose about $126 million. Yikes. The film’s director, Tom Hooper, still stands by his work though. He said that he was “fascinated” by the movie and found all the bad reviews and critic panning “entertaining.”
