Webber’s original musical definitely has some weird romantic tension going on, and apparently that tension translated from the stage to real life. There were many serious “showmances” in the original London production of Cats. In fact, three bigwigs from the production team ended up marrying cast members. This includes Sir Lloyd Webber himself! The show’s director Trevor Nunn and the show’s set designer John Napier also managed to hook themselves feline brides from the cast.
