Jody Watley, both a singer and songwriter has won several awards. Her incredible work and talent the ‘80s was a large part of the pop culture at the time. Her career started out through dancing as a teenager on Soul Train.
She was then spotted by Soul Train’s Gary Mumford who created an R&B music group, which helped Watley advance in her career when she joined Shalamar, a dance-soul trio. She stayed with the group for 7 years and then decide to continue solo. She has sold over 20 million albums today and built a lasting name.
