She was then spotted by Soul Train’s Gary Mumford who created an R&B music group, which helped Watley advance in her career when she joined Shalamar, a dance-soul trio. She stayed with the group for 7 years and then decide to continue solo. She has sold over 20 million albums today and built a lasting name.
